The Anaheim Ducks smashed their way into the playoffs. But it was Corey Perry’s own individual rippage that really swung the momentum.

The O slasher’s heroic efforts and scoring during the last couple weeks of the regular season catapulted the team from a bottom of the barrel playoff position to the middle the pack.

But make no mistake. He’d been doing that all season. (In his Oakley Hockey Visor, of course.)

So much so that the right wing grabbed the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the NHL’s top goal scorer for the 2010-11 season: the latest Duck since fellow Oakley athlete and legend Teemu Selanne took the inaugural award for his killer 1998-99 campaign.

Corey’s career high 50 goals this season, along with a career-best 98 points, landed him the honor. He’ll be presented with the trophy at the NHL Awards Show at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas on June 22.

“Congratulations to Corey on a tremendous regular season,” said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “He worked hard to earn this trophy and deserves the recognition he is receiving.”

Worked hard indeed. His goal tally is just two behind Teemu’s best at 52 – with his Apr. 6 goal vs. the San Jose Sharks powering him into 50 land.

Even better, Corey co-lead the NNL with 11 game-winning goals alongside fellow Oakley athlete Alex Ovechkin, while also leading the league in third period tallies (21).

A huge congratulations to Corey for the big honor and the amazing season!
