Javier Gomez Triumphs At Nautica South Beach Triathlon of Miami
Oakley Triathlete Javier Gomez took the top spot on the podium at the 2012 Nautica South Beach Triathlon of Miami on a warm humid day. With water temperatures registering 75 degrees at race time, Gomez was out of the water second. Clocking in with a bike time of 53:12, he made up some ground on the relatively flat, out and back course. Gomez ultimately took the lead during the run where no one could touch him, running a race-best 31:24 split.
The Nautica South Beach Triathlon of Miami is the first stop in the 2012 Race to the Toyota Cup series. With 0.5 points being awarded to the quickest swim, bike and run of each event, the Spanish native Gomez started off the year on a high note, collecting points for the overall win as well as the fastest run of the day.
Gomez hopes that this first victory is a sign of things to come in the 2012 season and ultimately to compliment his 2008 Olympic appearance at this year’s London Games. Congratulations to Javier on his first big victory of the season and continued success going into London!
