Triple Podium! Snowboard Star Mark McMorris Lands Triple Cork for X Games Big Air Triumph, Oakley Sweep

Torstein Horgmo’s first-ever Triple Cork made Winter X Games history last year.

But as always, Oakley’s athletes weren’t done pushing the envelope.

Coming from behind in the Big Air Finals on Friday, Oakley’s Young Canadian Star Mark McMorris threw down a massive Backside Triple Cork 1440 to claim glory in Aspen.

Also stomping a clean Backside Triple Cork 1440 himself, Torstein’s overall score of 76 in the final jam session – and a perfect score of 50 – wasn’t quite enough to overtake Mark’s 80-point explosion.

“X Games is something that I have watched since I was super young and all of my idols have been here,” Mark said, rocking his Oakley Snow Goggles and gear. “To end up on top of the podium in the biggest event in snowboarding is such a good feeling. All the support has been insane.”

Nonetheless, it was a clean sweep for Oakley’s Snowboard Team – with Sebastien Toutant grabbing the third podium spot.

“It was amazing,” Torstein said, sporting his brand new Oakley Canopy® Snow Goggles. “I am so stoked for Mark. It seemed like we kept pushing each other. It was just a good session out there.“

Smashing into the Finals by landing a Frontside Double Cork 1080 in Heat 2 of the semis, Mark took some time to warm up for what would be an absolutely epic ending to the contest.

But when all was said and done, Oakley’s killer Snowboard Team reaffirmed their dominance with the sweep.

Congratulations to Mark, Torstein and Seb Toots for the tantalizing evening in Colorado!
